KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

“Kenats Tsar” (Tree of Life) environmental NGO in cooperation with the ASPU Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography organized a meeting entitled “Environmental Education in Armenia.”

The meeting was attended by representatives of NGOs who presented the mission and activities of their NGOs, trying to enhance student engagement in environmental education through such events.

Ruzanna Sadoyan, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography, stressed the importance of the meeting, saying that environmental education is a necessity, especially for future educators.

“Each of us should be concerned about environmental problems. If we do not have environmentally literate generation, we shall have no future,” Ruzanna Sadoyan said in conversation with old.aspu.am. She added that the first steps in that direction had already been taken: ecology is included in school curricula as an optional subject but specialists believe that it should be made compulsory.

The meeting was also attended by professors from Belarusian State Pedagogical University Named after Maxim Tank who arrived at the ASPU within the framework of cooperation between the two universities in question.
