“Misack Melckonyan will be a Phenomenon in the World of Art”

“After seeing this exhibition many of us will be sure that Misack Melckonyan will be a phenomenon in the world of art. He is one of the artists who remains unshattered throughout time, listens to the voice of his own soul, has set a road that will lead him to success”, said Professor Hravard Hakobyan at the opening of the individual exhibition of the ASPU Associate Professor, Sculptor Misack Melckonyan.

The exhibition of Misack Melckonyan’s works, consisting of 42 sculptures and 30 paintings, was launched at the Union of Artists. Works, created by the Master in various years, depicted his colleagues, actors, musicians, known and unknown people, and their theme reflected the national mentality and spirit.

“It is a rather complicated task to arrange an exhibition of sculptures as it is uneasy to get represented to the public. And besides, I am being very serious about my work; one should have his works all ready”, mentioned Misack Melckonyan and added that his first exhibition could have been postponed if it hadn’t been requested by his fellow- artist colleagues.

Misack Melckonyan started carving at the age of 20, and today he confesses that he has inherited the talent and gift from his father, as well as was lucky to obtain good education when he was a student to the Sculptor Hovhannes Muradyan.

“Sculpting is my passion and lifestyle”, mentioned Misack Melckonyan and added that his daughter’s sculpture, which was also among the exhibits, had a special role in his life.

Further on, the Master’s colleagues congratulated him on launching the first exhibition. The newly appointed president of the Union of Artists Mr. Suren Safaryan wished lots of success and assured that the union will do its best to support the artists.

“Empty pots ring louder; Misack Melckonyan is one of the gifted artists, who shares his knowledge with the students with love and devotion. He is a man with a long path of life, an honest and diligent Master,’ observed the ASPU Head of the Chair of Fine Arts Karen Aghamyan and assured that this exhibition would initiate the recognition of Misack Melckonyan’s art.

The art lovers, who were present at the exhibition share the opinion that Misack Melckonyan’s sculptures are diverse and that various characteristic features, as well as the artist’s great interest in revealing the inner human nature are depicted thereon.
