KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

The famous and beloved works of great Armenian and international creators were heard during the year-end concert organized by the Chair of Music Education at the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) today.

The aim of the already traditional musical event held at the end of the academic year is to present the activities that the Chair of Music Education has carried out during the academic year, as well as to provide the best performers and groups of different classes with the opportunity to perform with teaching musicians.

The concert began with performances by the graduating choir of the fourth year of studies, as well as the “Ave Maria” all girls choir, the ensemble of kanon players and individual performers.

The concert featured performances of the works of Greg Gilpin, Alexander Alyabyev, Edward Elgar, Sergey Rachmaninoff, Franz Schubert, Eduard Mirzoyan, Romanos Melikyan, Sheram, Yuri Gevorgyan, Ara Gevorgyan, Anna Harutyunyan and others. Besides songs, the program also featured piano, reedpipe, violin, saxophone and dhol performances.

There were warm rounds of applause from the audience; the students of the Music Department at the ASPU promised to continue to serve in the field of music, adding that they will work as future teaching musicians in schools and will perform as musicians on stages.

Acting Head of the Chair of Music Education Anna Harutyunyan says the concert was a success and was the fruit of the combined and dedicated efforts of the professors. She attached importance to the concert in terms of presentation of the instruments that the future music teachers can use and their mastery of performance.

Lili Khachatryan, Associate Professor of the Chair of Music Education, which has been around at the ASPU for 50 years, notes that the concert served as evidence of the need for music education and that music is important for everyone, is nice to listen to in daily life and there is no life without music.

Khachatryan says the concert was a success due to the hard work of the lecturers and students and proudly states that the students of the Armenian State Pedagogical University love to learn and shine in their academic work and performing arts.
