The annual award ceremony “Best Student” was held at ASPU on December 21. This year the ceremony was held for the ninth time in a row.
The event was attended by Rector of the Moscow Pedagogical State University (MPGU) Alexey Lubkov, members of the Russian delegation, lecturers and students of ASPU.
Narek Sahakyan, a MA student of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography, was named winner of the competition initiated by the ASPU Student Council. The best student of the university will leave for Finland. Also, the best students of the ten faculties received notebooks.
“Students of the Pedagogical University are the best and those standing on the stage are the best of the best,” Ruben Mirzakhanyan said when congratulating the students.
Alexey Lubkov, MPGU Rector and President of the Eurasian Association of Pedagogical Universities (EAPU), agreed with his Armenian counterpart that ASPU students are ‘the best.’ He added that they are also the most beautiful.
He wished the students success during the exams and festive mood during the upcoming holidays. “Today is a bright day. A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the two universities, which also refers to students. Maintain it and remember the most important thing – have faith, maintain friendship and be open to cooperation.”
Alexey Lubkov stressed in his speech that the doors of the educational institution that he heads are open to ASPU students.
Narek Sahakyan thanked the organizers of the competition, saying it stimulates students to move forward and overcome obstacles on their way. The future geographer confessed that the victory was unexpected for him and at the same time expected for the realization of his goals. Narek Sahakyan asked ASPU Rector Ruben Mirzakhanyan to donate the money needed for his trip to Arman who has an autism spectrum disorder.
The attendees welcomed Narek’s proposal with great enthusiasm and stormy applause. Mr. Mirzakhanyan said the money would be given to Arman’s family for his treatment and added that Narek will leave for Finland by all means.
The solemn ceremony was accompanied by a concert. Students of the Chair of Choreographic Pedagogy and singer Gor Sujyan congratulated the best students with their performances.
