Future Pedagogues Donate Blood
13.11.2012
It is already the third time Anna Movsisyan, a student of the Faculty of Special Education, has donated blood on a voluntary basis. This humanitarian initiative is highly important for

Ann. “I have even saved the life of a 40-year-old woman,” she said smiling.

Blood donor Ani Verdyan, who was participating in the move for the first time, agreed to donate blood without hesitation though she was unaware of her blood group.

Despite the fear and different rumors, the student of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics is ready to give her blood to the person who needs it.

Voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation has become a good tradition for the students of the Pedagogical University. This time the campaign was devoted to the 90th anniversary of the University.

At the initiative of the University’s Student Council, over 100 students from the ten faculties of the University today visited the Blood Center after Professor R. Yolyan.

Before giving blood the young donors filled in questionnaires and were examined by a therapist.

Present at the event was the Dean of the Faculty of Primary Education, Heghine Khachatrya. She considers non-remunerated blood donation to be selfless act.

“A future pedagogue, who may not know the subject perfectly well but is ready to help people surrounding him, is more valued as a human being.

This initiative helps reveal human qualities, putting aside analyzes and evaluations,” she said.

Anna Sahakyan, Head of the Blood Donor Registry of the Blood Center after Professor R. Yolyan is glad to say that the number of young donors, who voluntarily donate blood to the blood bank, has increased lately, with similar campaigns becoming more frequent.

“Students of the Pedagogical University have been donating blood for many years now.  I call on everyone to join this initiative as blood is in great demand in our country,” she said.

Anna Sahakyan reminded once again that donated blood can be lifesaving for some individuals, it can increase body's immune system and is a great humanitarian step from the moral point of view. After all, blood is irreplaceable and no drug can fill the gap.
