Celebrating the International Day of Logopaedics

Exhibition of didactic logopaedics materials, logo-tales, distribution of booklets telling about the profession of logopaedics, working presentation of graduate- logopaedists,

 exchange of experience with the logopaedists of the Institute of Corrective Pedagogy of the RF Academy of Sciences through the interactive connection- such a rich programme was prepared by the Faculty of Special Education to celebrate the International Day of Logopaedics.
 
 
To begin with, in the early morning an exhibition was presented at the foyer of the University demonstrating a variety of games which strengthen breathing, sound distinction, verbal audition also syllabic structure building, correcting wrong pronunciation, developing careful motioning.
 
 
The author of the game with the hedgehog picture and the “Poor Hedgehog on Cramps”, the student of the Faculty of Special Education Adelaida Malaqyan says that the idea to create a game occurred to her within the scope of the lesson “A course for students”.
 
 

She is assured that the game will help children to develop careful motioning of fingers; “A child is given a picture of a hedgehog which as if lost its prickles. To help it, the child is given some cramps which he starts to strengthen”.
 
 
In her turn, the Dean of the Faculty of Special Education Armenuhi Avagyan confesses that after finishing the university the activity of the specialist of logopaedics is conditioned with the existence and usage of only three objects- a chair, a table, and a mirror.
 
 
The experience she gained abroad has introduced her with modern methods thus improving her professional growth.
 
 
“If a person’s language is weak, forceless, heavy and uncertain, then his mind is also probably similar as he thinks only through the language,” the Head of the Department of Logopaedics and Rehabilitation Therapy, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Jeanna Paylozyan shares the above mentioned idea by Herder, then she puts in, “The Pedagogical is the only University where logopaedists are trained.
 
 
In fact, little promotion is made on this profession in Armenia; moreover, a lot of people do not even know about the activities of these specialists.

 
Thus, within the framework of the 90th anniversary of the University, we decided to celebrate the International Day of Logopaedics for the first time bearing the hope that it will be on continuous basis”.
 
 
In addition, the employee of the National Institute of Education, the graduate of our University Ani Meliksetyan is again at her native university; just like many people, she has also joined the celebration of her professional day. The latter presented her professional approaches in the sphere, and then she introduced the educational manual “Learning to Speak in the World of Pictures”. 
 
 
Besides, according to the day’s sacrament, under the initiative of the Lecturer of the Department of Logopaedics and Rehabilitation Therapy Anna Charchyan an interesting flash-mob was arranged comprising various types of speech disorder. It aimed to once again remind about the profession of logopaedists who can assist to the whole process of speech formation and development.   
 
 
Y.Y. Kitik, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Institute of Correctional Pedagogy of the Russian Academy of Sciences congratulated the ASPU on the 90th anniversary on behalf of himself and the Director of the Institute, Academician N. N. Malofeev. During the direct communication, he wished the ASPU success and new achievements. 
 
Russian specialists presented the results of the study on “Role of Computer Games in Speech Therapy/Logopaedics.”The specialists were sure that in harmony with changes in educational system logopaedic methods should also be amended implying a transition from classical to the computer method.
 
 
To sum up, the theoretically and practically rich day was concluded with the festive cake symbolizing the profession of logopaedics.
