The Pedagogical University is continuing its 90th anniversary celebrations by welcoming various guests. On this occasion the Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan paid a visit to
the University today.
By congratulating the members of the Scientific Council and the teaching –professorial team, the Minister mentioned the following, “Being a pedagogue is the most honorable profession; there is actually no sphere that does not require the pedagogue’s involvement.
The role of the Pedagogical University is immense in all times of the history of our nation as well as in the process of formation of the Armenian Army. Moreover, the participation of the group of volunteers and graduates of the Pedagogical University Movses Gorgisyan , Mekhak Mekhakyan, and other eleven heroes in the Artsakh liberation battle turned the wheel of history.
And today, the University does everything with the help of historical, study visits, to increase patriotic spirit of the future generation”.
The Minister considers that pedagogy and military art have a lot of similarities; Armenian pedagogues today serve at the Armenian army, hold high positions and with their literacy, devotion and activities do not surrender to career officers.
In addition, Seyran Ohanyan expressed his hope that the teachers’ smithy would carry out its tasks, and the cooperation would be on continuous basis.
In his turn, the Chancellor of the Pedagogical University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan considered it a great honour to welcome Seyran Ohanyan and mentioned, “Once again getting acquainted with Your biography I become proud of the fact that in this period of independence it is You who lead and manage the Armenian Army which is in fact our biggest achievement.
You as the National Hero of Artsakh have a great contribution to the just fight to take back our lands. Throughout years a close cooperation developed between the Armenian Army and the Pedagogical University.
Besides, every week, our Student Council and the lecturers visit various military units and our last pilot project of the RA Government named “Survey on Educational Needs of Soldiers and Realization of Educational Projects at the RA AF Military Units” once again strengthened this cooperation,” the Chancellor added.
Further on Seyran Ohanyan replied to the questions presented by the members of the Scientific Council regarding the educational quality of the army’s command and the protection of the borders.
By the end of the meeting Rouben Mirzakhanyan conferred on Seyran Ohanyan the 90th anniversary jubilee medal of the
Pedagogical University, together with the first example of the illustrated album about the history and chronology of the University and a souvenir prepared by the Department of Applied Art.
On this point the Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan granted Rouben Mirzakhanyan with medals for “Effective Cooperation with the Armed Forces, Development of Patriotic Spirit”, and besides, awarded the medals “Andranik Ozanyan” and “20th Anniversary of Armenian Army” on the 90th anniversary of the University.
Afterwards, the Minister also presented a silver composition to the University celebrating its 90th anniversary; the wonderful gift will find its place at the new museum of the University.
In addition, by the Minister’s order “Drastamat Kanayan” medals were awarded to the Dean of Philological Faculty Yuri Davtyan, the Dean of History and Law Edick Gevorgyan, the Head of the Department of History of Armenia Mher Karapetyan, also to the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Sociology Lida Aramyan; furthermore, “Vazgen Sargsyan” medals were granted to the Professor of the Department of Chess and Sports Hrant Patrikyan.
