Lyudmila Obukhova, Doctor, Head of the Chair of Developmental Psychology, Moscow City University of Psychology and Education, Russian Federation, delivered an exclusive

lecture at Armenian State Pedagogical University on the theme “Piotr Galperin as a Person and Scientist.”
With the help of exclusive photos, the representative of the Galperin School introduced to the professorial staff and students of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology episodes from the life and professional activities of the psychologist.
“Few were involved in psychology in the past, and Galperin was seriously concerned about the future of the profession.

He believed that no other profession could replace psychology, therefore he advised people to conduct thorough studies in the field of psychology,” recalls Lyudmila Obukhova, who used to attend all lectures of the psychologist.
Piotr Galperin, the author of a number of theories, was sure that psychology should not be turned into a ‘room’ science; one should also apply practical methods during his meetings with visitors.
Lyudmila Obukhova also referred to the new methods and studies of psychology authored by Galperin, objective qualities of the psyche, analysis of the evolution of the psyche in animals and separation of biological, organic and social concepts in the human psyche.
Srbuhi Gevorgyan, Dean of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology, Doctor of Psychology and Professor, highlighted the fact that Lyudmila Obukhova also referred in the

lecture to the ideological differences between Leontiev and Galperin Schools.
“The ideas proposed by the representatives of the Galperin School are actual today and have their own place in the theory of psychology.
Galperin attached great importance to the phased development of intellectual abilities which was disapproved by Leontiev. It was rather difficult for Galperin to develop his theory from the point of view of methodological interpretation of issues and given the fact that Leontiev had long been considered a leading expert in the direction.
Lyudmila Obukhova wished the future psychologists success in their important work, inadvertently repeating Galperin’s wish to her.
Obukhova arrived in Armenia to attend the jubilee events parking the 90th anniversary of the Pedagogical University.
