Anush Arakelyan, a first-year Master's degree student of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography of the Pedagogical University, participated in the international scientific-

practical conference “Ecology, Evolution and Systematics of Animals” held in the Ryazan State University named for S. A. Yesenin on November 13-16.
The international conference brought together representatives from about nine countries.
Anush Arakelyan, the only representative of Armenia at the international event, delivered a report on “Spread of Sevan Koghak in Armenian Reservoirs.” [Koghak is an indigenous fish of the carp family found in Lake Sevan].

“For a long time specialists believed that Koghak could be raised only in Lake Sevan.
The fish was considered to be endemic, and there was a sharp decline in its stocks. In 2010, the fish was enlisted in the Red Book of Rare and Endangered Species of the Republic of Armenia.
However, our studies revealed that Koghak is also found in the lakes and reservoirs of Kura and Aras rivers and demands new and through studies,” said Anush Arakelyan.
The participant of the international conference believes that the new information about different species of animals, systematics of the fauna will keep the attendees abreast of developments in the given field and enable them to share their experience with friends.
