Armen Abroyan, who is a supporter of the Spanish game with white figures and the Sicily defense game with black figures, is one of the winners of the Pedagogical University

rapid chess faculty championship.
The future politologist got attracted by the oldest, the most complicated and interesting sport created by human beings at an early age. He started mastering the steps in this royal game, exercised his mind and logic, and received his first class at the age of 11.
The supporter of attacking chess style thinks that it is the model of life; here the layout of the figures and the process of the game changes very fast, just like in life. “I am glad to see that the Pedagogical, too, is infected with the chess game. Our University has a lot of clever and bright students who have so far avoided expressing their playing skills. I am sure that chess will help us all to become more intellectual, to develop mind and logic.”

More to the point, first class diplomas in the rapid chess faculty championship 2012 were also granted to Norayr Nazaryan, Norayr Sahakyan and Nona Ghalechyan.
Further, the Head of the Department of Educational and Methodological Coordination of the Pedagogical University, the Vice Chancellor Mher Meliq-Bakhshyan congratulated the winners of the competition and expressed his hope that it would also help them to further participate at the intercollegiate championship.
“Today the Pedagogical University is on its way of serious reforms; from now on you will have the opportunity to master in this type of sport, too. In near future, chess will also be included in the curricula to fill in the gap of chess teachers at secondary schools.”
More to the point, Edick Gevorgyan, the Dean of the Faculty of History and Law from the winner team of the championship

also focused importance of holding such championships. “We need to reap the fruits that the University gives us and to become knowledgeable pedagogues for the society,” he advised.
We would like to remind that eight teams from ten faculties participated in the first University Championship of Chess dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Pedagogical University.
The first highest prize of the two-day championship was granted to the team of the Faculty of History and Law, which received fourteen points; the second prize went to the joint team of the Faculties of Primary Education and Special Education, which gained 11 points; while the third prize went to the team of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography for their nine points.
It should also be mentioned that the Victory Cup awarded to the winning team will be transferable.
