Tumanyan Readings Organized at Pedagogical University
29.11.2012
Tumanyan Club and Literary Studio of the Faculty of Philology presented a literary matinée entitled “Tumanyan Readings” which was organized at the initiative of Abgar Apinyan,

President of the Writers' Union and a lecturer of the Chair of Russian Literature.

The future literary critics presented reports on the following themes: “H. Tumanyan and Folklore,” “H. Tumanyan and Caucasian Society of Armenian Writers,” “Formation of H. Tumanyan’s Epic Style,” “Maro,” “Loretsi Sako” “Tmkaberdi arume” “H. Tumanyan as Editor,” as well as analyses of the writer’s poems.

Present at the literary matinée were young writers Susanna Ghazaryan, David Asatryan and David Mshetsi.

“The event is a unique opportunity to approach the traditions of the great writer. Nowadays, it is highly important to speak about humanism and compassion. Modern Culturology views humanism as a major criterion of art. The person who composes with that spirit should point out human errors but never become a misanthrope; he/she must avoid blasphemy and insults; this is not humanism,” said Yuri Davtyan, Dean of the Faculty of Philology.

He noted with regret that in the contemporary world many turn a human being into a laughing stock in the works of literature and art.

We declare Humanism as the supreme principle of art which should be especially maintained by writers.  The synthesis of scientific and spiritual feelings is evident in your reports,” added Abgar Apinyan.
