The 3rd International Conference of CIS Teachers of Russian Language and Literature took place in Yerevan. The conference entitled “Modern Trends of Teaching Russian
Language and Literature at National Secondary Schools” was held at Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU).
The organization committee of the conference included ASPU Rector, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan, Chairman of Russian Rossotrudnichestvo Agency Victor Krivapuskov, and representative of the Russian Language Teaching Center, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Bella Yesajanyan.
Emphasizing the organization of a similar conference, the ASPU Rector said, “The Pedagogical University attaches great importance to the knowledge of foreign languages, including Russian. As a result of the policy adopted by the University, Russian Language courses have been extended.
Hereinafter, the University students will study the language for four years against the former two. After graduating from the University, they will be able to use at least one foreign language, besides their Mother Tongue.”
Manuk Mkrtchyan, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, N. Gusakyan, Head of the National Institute of the RF Ministry of Education and Science, and many others addressed the conference participants.
A number of contemporary reports were presented at the conference. Special reference was made to the modern methods of teaching Russian, methodological correlation between the text and speech, formation and development of speech at Armenian schools, types of depression encountered among 10-grade schoolchildren, spelling lessons, games and exercises at ethnic schools.
Participating at the event were N. Eremenko, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representation in Armenia, L. Balasanyan, senior specialist of the Association of Teachers of
Russian Language and Literature in Secondary Schools, G. Barikyan, Executive Director of the Russian Language Teaching Center, A. Khachikyan, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, and many others.
The conference was organized by the Russian Language Teaching Center of Rossotrudnichestvo Federal Agency Representation in Armenia, Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature in Secondary Schools and Alumni Association of Russian Universities.
The Federal Agency for CIS Affairs (Rossotrudnichestvo) and Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan earlier reached an agreement on cooperation in the education sector.
