“It is the rule of the world, as it came, so will it leave”; children of the theatrical club of the center “Prkutyun/salvation” for children and young people with disabilities addressed to all
those presentthis aphorism from the well-known “Death of Kikos” fairy tale on the Pedagogical stage.
With the efforts of the Artistic Director of the club KarineMargaryan children with mental disabilities demonstrated a brilliant performance with their acting abilities and made the audience believe and trust on their power.
In 2000, one of the actors, AprelickAzaryan won the fourth prize at the fast path competition. And today she considers her performance the second price she wins in addition, the smiles of the audience and the infinite applause assured her that they are much more than just powerful.
The event headed as “Harmonious Society with Joint Efforts” continued with a concert programme; the people with disabilities were greeted with their performances by the guitar ensemble “Golden Strings”, also by the students of the Faculty of Special Education TatevikSerobyan, ShushanZaqaryan.
By the way, the latter performed the song “Mother” in sign language.
The President of the center for children and young people with disabilities called “Prkutyun/Salvation”,ArpineiAbrahamyan expressed her gratitude for effective cooperation with the University, for warm welcome, and for students’ true devotion.
“Each occasion of performing on the stage is a great event and an unforgettable memory for these
children. They will remember all the impressions they received today,” mentioned the president of the center and added that the warm welcome of the audience was the pledge of their successful performance.
Upon the end of the event all participants were granted thank-you notes.
In addition, we’d like to mention that in 1992 the UNO announced the 3rd of December the International Day of People with Disabilities. And in December 2006, Armenia joined the convention on Protection of Rights of People with Disabilities, and in February 2008 a National Commission dealing with persons with disabilities was established in Armenia.
