The first volume of “Poems” of Armenian writer Vahan Teryan was published in Moscow one hundred years ago – in 1912.

Teryan passed a long creative path, attaining flawless perfection of poetic image, language and structure, which has remained unmatched in the history of Armenian poetry,” Abgar Apinyan, President of the Writers’ Union of Yerevan, lecturer of the Chair of Russian Language, said during the matinée devoted to the prominent writer.
During the event organized by the Faculty of Philology at the initiative of Mr Abgaryan, future literary critics presented reports on “Teryan’s Last Book,” “Teryan’s Handwriting,” “Teryan’s Masterpieces,” “The Future of Armenian Literature according to Teryan,” “Teryan’s Versification,” and “Teryan’s Poetic Style.”
Speaking about the secret of Teryan’s handwriting, the participants said, “Teryan did not like the full stop; the writer used commas and three dots which symbolized his inner mental state and nature because he himself was variable, eternal and continuous.”
Commenting on the article “Teryan and Modern Poetry” Abgar Apinyan said that ‘something is wrong in Armenian literature: once, an entire ideology was formed against Teryan.’
“Teryan Club” and “Literary Studio” of the Faculty participated in the matinée. Present at the literary event were also poet Harutyun Hovnatan, young writers Narek, David Asatryan and David Mshetsi.
