Project on Developing Leaders was Launched

The project Tempus “Master in Higher Education Management: Developing Leaders for Managing Educational Transformation” has been launched at the Pedagogical University.

 
 
On this occasion, the welcoming speech is delivered by the Leader of the Professional Association of Educationalists, Vice Chancellor of the Pedagogical University Tigran Ayvazyan. The latter emphasizes the importance of the project implementation in Armenia and expresses hope to see the dynamic and effective cooperation of the participants.
 
 
  
Afterwards, the Chancellor of the Pedagogical University Rouben Mirzakhanyan addresses the project participants, partners and experts the following, “The Armenian State Pedagogical University after Kh. Abovyan is honoured to host you within the most progressive context of European Educational Standards with a specific reference to the most recent requirements of professional formation and academic development.
 
 
 

As Project Coordinator, we have great expectations for the further prospects of cooperative efforts and the delight to share joint results. Being an explicit leader in providing the Armenian School with teaching staff during the past 90 years, we do realize the importance of the education management internationally recognized as a new philosophical basis to substitute the conceptual premises of educational leadership of the past.”
 
 
Moreover, Rouben Mirzakhanyan assures that efficient cooperation would stimulate the forming of managerial patterns within transformational social context, balanced internal and external leadership methods, long-lasting organizational changes. 
 
 
Further on, the representative of the RA Ministry of SE, the Head of the Department of Universities Coordination and Organization Sasoun Melikyan has serious expectations from the project, he is convinced that the introduction of Education Management Master’s programme, the creation of the corresponding Chair at the Pedagogical University will improve the process of developing leaders in the sphere of education.
 
 
 
“The Ministry is currently regulating the legal side of the project, and upon its end, it will take care of the employment issues of those who passed the programme. Besides the

 exchange of experience, it will also contribute to the mutual enrichment of the culture of education”.
 
 
 
In her turn the Director of the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance Susanna Karakhanyan is assured that Armenia does not have a lack of qualified professionals, but the curricula educational standards have already become outdated.
 
 
 
While presenting the management of the project MAHATMA, its scope of activities and the official website, she mentions, “This project will give an opportunity to generate new methodology and assessment standards for various subjects. It is the first serious attempt for Armenia to fulfill credit accumulation and transfer, as well as to provide mobility.”
 
 
 

Besides, Susanna Karakhanyan observes that Armenia has been participating in the Tempus projects for around 15 years, but this is the first occasion that the University itself is running and coordinating the whole course of activities, and the University Chancellor himself demonstrates direct participation in the process.
 
 
 
 Later on, the Head of the Department of Germanic Languages, the Project participant Tigran Mikaelyan introduces the Armenian and Georgian partners with the structure of the Pedagogical University, its governing bodies, divisions, and edges of international cooperation. He also mentions that the University focuses major significance on the compliance with the European standards, the adoption of the Bologna system, as well as the development of the higher education management transformation. 
 
 
 
 And last but not least, the meeting also discusses the project strategic outline, and the partners in their turn speak about the activities of their institutions.
