New Perspectives for Pedagogical Education Reforms: Sector Specialists Deliver Reports

In the fourth section of the conference entitled “A New Teacher for a New School,” reporters referred to natural sciences, presenting the new perspectives for pedagogical

 education reforms.
 
 
Chairman of the section, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography, Svetlana Hovakimyan, introduced to the participants the procedure of the conference, calling for active participation and healthy scientific discussions.
 
 
Tigran Tangamyan, Co-Chair of the section, Head of the Chair of Biology and its Teaching Methods, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, referred to the methodological system of shaping the scientific outlook of a high-school student in the process of learning. 
 
 
He presented in different tables the data of experimental classes that show to which extent a high-school student is informed about the scientific outlook. Tigran Tangamyan also referred to the manual published in 2010 which was acknowledged as a basis for shaping the outlook about Biology as a subject. 
 
 

In her report on “Scientific and Methodological Substantiation of the Formation of Ecological Concepts,” Aletta Nerkararyan, lecturer of the Chair of Biology and its Teaching Methods, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, highlighted the importance of environmental education and introduction of new methods and educational programs.
 
 
Stressing today’s increasing requirements placed before specialists, she emphasized the role and importance of a creative teacher in the formation of a civilized person. 
 
Getting familiarized with the results of numerous experiments, the presentees understood that the work carried out in the environmental education is not enough: students even lack the basic knowledge about the flora and fauna. Introducing her model for a new teacher in a new school, Aletta Nerkararyan suggested reviewing education programs and organizing frequent eco tours. 
 
 
The participants of the section also touched upon the peculiarities of teaching environmental and pharmaceutical management and other important issues in their reports.

In Section VI, reporters dwelt on the sectors of special education, special pedagogy, first aid and sports.
 
 
 
Dean of the Faculty of Special Education, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Armenuhi Avagyan presented in her report the formation of inclusive education system in Armenia and the country’s achievements and expectations in the system. Speaking about the systematic training, conferences and ongoing reforms in the field of inclusive education, she also pointed out to the drawbacks. 
 
 

Tereza Azatyan, Vice Dean for Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Associate Professor of the Chair of Special Pedagogy and Psychology, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, spoke about the approaches on the formation of spatial perception of mentally retarded young schoolchildren. 
The participants delivered reports on other themes as well. 
 
 
Taking into consideration the new qualitative approaches on interpersonal relations and gender perceptions, Acting

 Head of the Chair of First Aid, Emergency Situations and Civil Protection, Associate Professor Hakob Grigoryan referred to the biological-medical characteristics of sexual education of young people. 
 
 
Emphasizing their theoretical and scientific importance, he also stressed the role and negative consequences of information resources.
 
 
In the reports, the participants also spoke about the ways to reduce disaster risks, peculiarities of their formation (Perch Karapetyan) and other themes.
