It is already the third year the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) has been organizing “The Best Student” prize-giving ceremony.

One student from the University’s Basic (High School) College and one from each faculty of the University were chosen from over 17 000 readers to participate in the event. These students demonstrated the highest level of attendance, visiting the University’s library at least 100 times within the period from January to November 2012.
The event started with the Lord’s Prayer.
The winners were welcomed by the deans of the faculties who later gave them prizes and certificates.
Lilit Karapetyan, a third-year student of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology, has used the library services more than 230 times, thus exceeding the attendance of book-loving students from other faculties.

Lilit says she highlights and prefers live communication with books despite the advantages of e-Library.
ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan also congratulated the book-loving students. Underlining the role of books in the life of human beings, especially in the profession of pedagogues, Mr Mirzakhanyan said two modern and well-equipped reading-halls would be opened at the University in the near future. Also, the University will have e-Library.
The rector also gave other presents to the winners and said they would have an opportunity to spend a four-day rest in Aghavnadzor.
The event was attended by Arthur deacon Aramyan, Secretary of the Chief Architect of the Department of Architecture, Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. “When I entered the reading-hall I was shocked to see the care for books, which is the biggest driving force [in the 21st century] for young people to read books,” he said adding that the look and smell of books are irreplaceable for him.
For the first time, awards were also handed in the nomination “The Most-read Authors.” The books by Albert Nalchajyan, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate

Professor, turned out to be in greatest demand among the University students who had used the books at least 21.000 times. The books of Hayk Petrosyan, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Acting Professor were asked for 10 000 times.
Hayk Petrosyan, the author of about 14 books, says the certificate is binding for him as he strives to meet the interests of a modern student and is going to publish new manuals for students.
Director of the Scientific Library Tigran Petrosyants gave the presentees library cards of Honorary Readers.
