The RA Minister of Diaspora Visits the Pedagogical

Today, the Pedagogical University was glad to welcome the RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan. The University Chancellor Rouben Mirzakhanyan greeted the guest, and

 awarded the Minister with the medal symbolizing the 90th anniversary of the University.
 
  
Hranush Hakobyan congratulated on the 90th anniversary of the University and stated, “The Pedagogical University celebrated its anniversary in a resplendent way.
 
 
A person’s main educator is the family; my parents are the graduates of this very University. Their education directly affected my destiny. Not being a graduate of the Pedagogical, I still consider it the most important hearth of my upbringing and education. Still at an early age I remember the pedagogues who were giving lectures here. And now, I bow my head in front of the pedagogues of all times for their patriotic activities”. 
 
 
Moreover, the Minister also spoke about the creation of this young Ministry, the problems of the Armenian Diaspora, its peculiarities, the psychological problems of Armenians in the Diaspora. 
 

Besides, the latter referred to the University activities, its policy and strategy and mentioned, “From the very beginning I was against the creation of the Ministry of Diaspora; nevertheless, in the course of time I realized its cultural, educational importance and its significant role in preservation of the Armenian identity.
 
 
 
It is the youngest Ministry among those in sixty countries and its strategic aim is to solve the problem of preserving Armenian identity in the Diaspora, to use the potential of the Diaspora for the fortification and strengthening of Armenia as well as to develop programmes about returning to the homeland.”
 
 
The festival “My Armenia”, the “Diaspora” summer school, “Come back home”, the all-Armenian professional conventions, etc. Hranush Hakobyan enumerated all programmes and research works conducted by the Ministry.
 
 
 
Likewise, the latter also highlighted the importance of the formation of dual citizenship as well as the factor of the Armenian lobby in the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the acknowledgement of the Armenian genocide.
 
 
“The Diaspora is gradually coming together around the homeland, the Armenians of the Diaspora are longing to return to their motherland making Armenia the hearth for those

 from Diaspora”, the Minister added. Besides, she also spoke about preserving Armenian language in different parts of the World, about the problems of preventing the reduction of Armenian schools, mentioned the immense role of the Pedagogical University in this regards. 
 
 
In their turn, the teaching –professorial team of the University mentioned in reply to this, that in a number of faculties the subject “History of the Diaspora” is included into the curricula, while the Head of the Department of “Armenian Language and its Teaching Methods” Lalik Kachatryan suggested that the Pedagogical University’s potential should be included into the activities of teaching subjects on Armenian studies. 
 
 
And last but not least, by the end of the meeting, the Minister Hranush Hakobyan awarded the Director of the Center “Spyurq” Souren Danielyan and the Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Acting Professor Julietta Gyulamiryan with the “William Saroyan” medal for the dynamic development of various activities in the Diaspora.
 
 
To conclude, the Minister made a tour around the University and visited the new museum.
