The Scientific Council of the Pedagogical University today convened its yearend sitting. The reports on the work implemented at the Pedagogical University, scientific topics funded
by the state budget, awarding of academic titles and other current issues were included in the meeting agenda.
Before proceeding to the agenda, Rector of the Pedagogical University, Chairman of the Scientific Council, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan congratulated all those who are celebrating their birthday in December.
Then a secret ballot was held to bestow the degrees of Associate Professor and Professor on the candidates.
Mr Mirzakhanyan briefed the attendees on the changes introduced in the education process in the passing year, including the reduction in the number of subjects, introduction of new subjects and clarification of subject programs. He highlighted the introduction of Inclusive Education in the curricula of Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, saying it corresponds to the new approaches of the educational process.
Rouben Mirzakhanyan also referred to the structural changes of the University Chairs, which were subjected to nominal changes and brought into compliance with school programs.
Introducing some other changes in the educational programs, the rector said, “The changes in the curriculum must stem from school programs. We are to be careful and unerring before each change: immediate and drastic changes are not effective from the semantic and lexical aspects.”
Speaking about the University’s scientific activities, Rouben Mirzakhanyan said one of the top priorities of the University is to turn the institution into a scientific research center, giving preference to school-related programs.
With regard to the scientific achievements of the passing year, the rector emphasized the international conferences and symposia which featured representatives from some 14 countries.
Mr Mirzakhanyan also presented the expenses incurred in 2012 and income estimates. He finished his speech with the following words: ‘We shall be the best in all undertakings.’
Head of Scientific Research Center Kamo Vardanyan presented the course of scientific activities underway at the Pedagogical University, scientific programs funded by the 2012 state budget, types of scientific programs, base funding, the work implemented within the framework of the “Scientific Research Center” program, as well as the list of scientific activities to be funded by the 2013 budget.
Mr Vardanyan particularly referred to the program “Assessment and Development of Personal and Professional Competence of Future Pedagogues, Psychological Problems of Modeling of Learning Situations,” as well as the methods, programs, guidelines and plans developed during the implementation of the program.
At the end of the meeting, the participants summed up the results of the secret ballot. Lecturers Gohar Arajyan, Ashot Yesayan, Sargis Gayijyan, Shake Tadevosyan, Karen Khojoyan, Varujan Vardapetyan, Nune Ordyan were awarded with the title of Associate Professor. Gayane Shaghgamyan, Head of the Chair of Russian language, was awarded the title of Professor.
