The Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) hosted on January 14 a graduate of the ASPU, writer and publicist Razmik Davoyan, as well as the family members of former

rectors Vazgen Aghumzumtsyan, Vardges Hamazaspyan, Ashot Paremuzyan and Lemvel Valesyan .
ASPU Rector, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan hailed the contribution of the writer and the former rectors in the development of the University and awarded their families with a jubilee medal symbolizing the 90th anniversary of the University.
While presenting the work carried out at the ASPU during his tenure of office, Mr Mirzakhanyan said, “In recent years, the Pedagogical University has been collaborating with the leading universities of the globe. We emphasize student mobility and send our students abroad through exchange programs within the framework of this cooperation. Also, we are taking efforts to overcome the language barrier; as a result of the policy adopted by the Pedagogical University, in four years’ time our students will be able to work in at least one foreign language besides their Mother Tongue. The existence of the Chair of Chess and Sports will enable our students to obtain a relevant qualification [class] and work at school. Besides, the students of the History Faculty will undergo their upcoming practice in Western Armenia.”
The ASPU Rector confessed that the enormous changes introduced at the University would have been impossible to implement without studying the University’s past and the major contributions of the previous 17 rectors.
Addressing the presentees, Rouben Mirzakhanyan expressed his deepest gratitude to them for providing information on the University and its chronology. “With your assistance we were able to create a unique museum which has had at least 6000 visitors since the day of its opening.”

In his turn, Razmik Davoyan said he had visited numerous universities but it was a great pleasure and pride for him to speak about his own educational institution. His best memories were connected with the Pedagogical University.
Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor Rouben Aghumzumtsyan, the son of former rector Vazgen Aghumzumtsyan, did not conceal his excitement either; one of the buildings of the University was once his place of abode.
At the end of the meeting, the guests walked through the University Museum and shared their impressions.
