Today, the general meeting of the Student Scientific Society was held at the Pedagogical University; the major issue on the agenda was the election of the SSS Chairman.
The Chairman of the SSS Georgi Gabrielyan greeted those present and presented the activities he undertook in times of his tenure particularly mentioning the achievements and shortcomings; “Being in charge of this scientific structure we tried to support the University students as well as the academic, scientific, research, creative activities of the PhD students. We organized numerous symposiums, conferences, educational and scientific events, and the annual contest-festival of recitation where students from different Faculties represented their compositions, and this is one of our major achievements.”
The latter expressed hope that educational and scientific cooperation with other universities will be on continuous basis and the sound generation change will help to more expand the aims and objectives set in front of the society.
According to the SSS Statute, passing to the election of the Chairman of the Society, the members of the Council suggested the candidacy of the first year MA student of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology Mariam Melqumyan.
Further on, as a result of an open voting, the latter assumed the abovementioned position of the SSS Chairman.
In her turn, Mariam Melqumyan expressed her gratefulness and said, “It is a great honour for me to bear the honorary title of the SSS Chairman of the Pedagogical University.
Outside the classes, my activities in this structure played a huge role in my interpersonal formation. The 21st century is the era of knowledge; and the SSS is the structure, which gives an opportunity to the students to make their first steps in the scientific sphere and to gain features to become good researchers. I promise to continue the traditions set at the SSS in near future, to cooperate with the SC, scientific, educational departments, other centers, universities, academic societies, arrange student symposiums, popular scientific lectures and events, involve students in educational, academic groups and programmes, publish their scientific research activities.
Those present congratulated the newly appointed SSS Chairman and characterized her as a knowledgeable, responsible, industrious and business person. In addition, they expressed hope to see plenty of new and effective scientific programmes under Mariam Melqumyan’s conduct.
