Pedagogical University Hosts its Youngest Ever Visitors
“I am turning to you, Armenian newly matured youth, my dears, my precious, learn ten languages, but cling to your native language and your faith firmly…” Inspired by the words of

 Armenian writer and great pedagogist Khachatur Abovyan, fourth graders of School â„–57 after Vahan Totovents visited the Pedagogical University. 
 
The youngest visitors walked around the University building, got acquainted with its history and notable graduates. With the help of museum researcher Sirarpi Ananyan and direct participation of the children, the presentees were [for a moment] taken back to the 5th century: the children staged the creation of the Armenian alphabet which was followed by the junior students transferring the Great Illuminator’s message about the preservation of Mother Tongue.  
 
Form master Karine Mangoyan thanked the lecturers and student volunteers for the support. “We seem to have got a second wind. With their performance our students pledged to be worthy descendants of Khachatur Abovyan and uphold the good reputation of the institution that bears the name of the Great Illuminator,” she said. 
 
Next, the children visited the University’s Scientific Library. 
 

Tigran Petrosyants, Director of the Scientific Library welcomed the guests with these words, “Books are man's best friend, love them!” The children walked through the reading hall, got acquainted with the rich book depository and promised to be the most anticipated visitors of the reading hall in several years’ time.
 
A beautiful surprise was awaiting the children at the library: they met the authors of school textbooks – Suren Iskandaryan, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Lilit Ter-Grigoryan, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, Heghine Khachatryan, Dean of the Faculty of Primary Education, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor and Ashot Galstyan, Head of the Chair of Armenian Language and Elementary Teaching Methods, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor.
 
At the end of the meeting, which was initiated by the Faculty of Primary Education, the children received dictionaries of proper names, spelling dictionaries, copy-books and souvenirs. For his part, Tigran Petrosyants donated to the school his books “One Thousand Armenian Generals and Admirals” and “Khenter.”
