Pedagogical University Hosts Matinee Devoted to All-Armenian Poet
04.03.2013
A musical and literary matinée dated to the 90th anniversary of the death of renowned Armenian writer Hovhannes Tumanyan was held at the Pedagogical University on March 4.

With the help of quatrains and poems, human species and the environment the great writer longed for, the feeling of nostalgia and tribulations soaring from his lyrical recollection became the property of the audience within minutes.

Students and lecturers of the University introduced the writer's creative legacy in a genuine way, with all its simplicity and depth, clearness and singularity. “He loves Man and dreams that Man become beautiful and eternal like Mother Nature. Only a great philanthropist like Tumanyan could dream of a world which is cleansed off dirt and impurity,” said Vanuhi Bahramyan, a student of the Faculty of Philology.

The poems of the All-Armenian poet were presented with violin and piano accompaniment.

“The musical and literary matinée organized in collaboration with the Union of Writers is of great educational significance. I am glad to see our students’ keen interest in literature. Tumanyan is the writer whose books should be read every day,” said Professor Arkadi Shekunts, Director of the University’s Cultural Centre.
