Future Journalists Visit Orphanage
11.03.2013
First-year students of the Department of Television and Radio Journalism, (Faculty of Culture, ASPU) today visited Mary Izmirlian orphanage of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

In the orphanage, the future journalists met 18 children of “New Stars” group subject to adoption. The students were touched by their beautiful piano performances.

The guests had brought with them clothes, sweets and other things which they donated to the parentless children with mental and physical disabilities.

“It is pleasant to make children smile and rejoice by giving them presents, even small ones. I felt a strong connection to them. I saw love, hope and longing in their lambent eyes. I am sure that these children, who have encountered numerous hardships in their life but are filled with faith for the future, will recover and be next to their parents,” said future television journalist Grigor Gevorgyan who promised to make his visits to orphanages more frequent.

Eighty-four of the 95 children of the orphanage go to school.  In order to help children in their profession orientation, different courses are held in the orphanage where they are taught needlework, carpet weaving, sewing, dancing, painting and other skills. Over 40 children are involved in the piano, violin, percussion instruments and vocal groups of Yerevan’s Art School N 2.
