Start of New Collaboration Announced

Armenian State Pedagogical University today hosted the first meeting of ASPU representatives and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), who discussed Disaster Risk

 Reduction (DRR) programme. 
 
During the consultation, the participants were presented the principles of disaster risk reduction and their possible introduction not only in educational, but also in teacher training and qualification programmes.
 
The meeting was attended by Andrea James, Regional Chief of Emergency at UNICEF and Head of the DRR programmes, Anim Rehman, a specialist of the programme, Tigran Tovmasyan, DRR Programme Officer at UNICEF Armenia, Naira Hakobyan, Head of Department of Professional Quality Development, Karine Danielyan, Head of Chair of Ecology and Sustainable Development, Laura Asatryan, Acting Head of Chair of Theory and History of Pedagogy, Hakob Grigoryan, Acting Head of the Chair of First Aid, Emergency and Civil Protection and masters from different faculties. 
 
The programme aims to study the current situation of disaster risk reduction in the educational sector, include DRR basic principles in the curriculum of the Pedagogical University, and organize their teaching in schools and pre-school institutions of the republic.
