Students Summarized the Results of the Volunteer Projects
10.04.2013
The students of the Pedagogical University Faculty of Primary education made a regular summary of the outcomes of the project “Education through Volunteering Activities”.

The students presented the process and the outcomes of the volunteering programmes implemented in various institutions with thematic materials, teaching and planning forms, open classes and evaluation sheets.

The cooperation memorandum signed by the Faculty of Primary Education with a number of educational establishments of Yerevan and the RA districts and the NGOs last year has given an opportunity to the students to develop volunteering activities in all spheres.

The fourth year student of the Department of Pedagogy and Methodology / elementary education/ Ms. Gohar Vardanyan implemented volunteer activities at the educational institution after Anania Shirakatsi. Participation in the educational process, open classes, preparation of teaching materials and planning is the best practice for the future pedagogue.

With the help of questionnaires the student studied the sphere of education within the framework of the research topic “Education Management in the Educational Institution after Anania Shirakatsi and its Comparison with other secondary schools”, also got familiar with the peculiarities of the specialization and the educational process. What is more, she promises to apply all the skills she acquired, to improve the analytic thinking and judgments, as well as team work abilities.

Summing up the months of the volunteer activities, Aryusak Velikhanyan, the assistant to the teacher at the secondary school after Vache Roustamyan in Echmiadzin, also states that the project is successful and the results are satisfying.

The preparation of the educational material, its checking, evaluation process, participation in the out-of-classes, out-of-school educational events gave an opportunity to the pedagogue to use the knowledge used in practice, to have a professional growth.

Moreover, the Deputy Dean of Science and Postgraduate Education of the Faculty of Primary Education Ms. Lusinei Poghosyan is also content with the outcomes of the project.

The latter is happy to mention that the number of the volunteers willing to participate in the project “Education through Volunteer Activities” is increasing daily.

“Very often it can be noticed that the theoretical knowledge and the practice do not correspond with the formation of

professional competences of the students. I think that the research work applied in the project will fill in the missing practical hours in the credit system and will improve the students’ experience”.

In addition, Ms. Lusinei Poghosyan underlines that due to the project sometimes the student’s employment issues are also solved.

Last but not least, we would like to remind that the aim of the abovementioned project is to raise the education quality, to develop the professional capabilities of the students, to implement some provisions of the Bologna declaration and to realize them at the University.
