15.04.2013

About 30 students of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology [majoring in Military Education and Psychology] recently visited the military unit after Vazgen Sargsyan in

Ararat marz (province). The visit was arranged at the initiative of Hakob Tadevosyan, Deputy Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Science.

Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Tumanyan presented the students the main directions of the work of a military psychologist, forms of psychological influence, familiarized them with the life at the military unit, military problems, soldiers’ lifestyle, terms of service, methods of the educational process and their characteristics.

Soldiers of the intelligence unit showed the students a practical exercise of overcoming the psychological no-go area. Psychologist, Mayor Ashot Ghazaryan, explained the influence of each section of the no-go area on the psychology of soldiers.

In his lecture, Associate Professor Hakob Tadevosyan dwelt on the implementation of education in combat and combat-like situations. Later, the students saw in practice how the soldiers pass through the no-go area through smoke, fire and shooting and impale the target.

The guests then visited the shooting-ground of the military unit where they fired from weapons loaded with special bullets.

The future military pedagogues-psychologists were also hosted by servicemen conducting field studies. They got acquainted with the life in tents, characteristics of organizing field assemblies, the goal and objectives of practical training held in combat-like situations.

The commander of the tank subdivision presented the technical possibilities and structure of tanks.

The visit ended at the military canteen where the students tasted the canteen meals together with the soldiers.

“Currently, there is a significant gap between the theoretical and practical knowledge of specialists. Formation and development of practical skills is much more important in case of military pedagogues-psychologists since they are displayed in actual situations,” Hakob Tadevosyan told armspu.am.

Volodya Gasparyan, a lecturer of the Chair of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy, Candidate of Pedagogical Science, and Khachatur Stepanyan, Associate Professor of the Chair of Armenian History, Candidate of Historical Science, also visited the military unit after Vazgen Sargsyan.
