Pedagogical University Hosts Professors of Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory

The Department of Music Education of the Faculty of Art Education recently hosted the professors of Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, pianist Villy Sargsyan and musicologist

 Armen Budaghyan.
 
They visited the University on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Konstantin Igumnov, one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century, who was the teacher of many renowned people, including Arno Babajanyan, Alexander Harutyunyan, Anna Ambakumyan, Ketti Malkhasyan, Maria Ghambaryan and many others.
 
During the visit, pianist Villy Sargsyan presented the unique teaching methods of Konstantin Igumnov. Vyacheslav Yedigaryan, Associate Professor at the Chair of Theory of Music, its Teaching Methods and Musical Instruments, Candidate of Arts, performed Alexander Harutyunyan’s "Prelude” dedicated to Igumnov.
 
The meeting turned into a kind of master class, with a second-year undergraduate student, Gohar Vardanyan, performing Prelude and Fugue No. 5 in D major by Dmitri Shostakovich. After the performance Villy Sargsyan shared his observations with the student, giving his advice and methodological instructions. 
 
The meeting held in a warm and friendly atmosphere was another attempt to strengthen cooperation between Armenian State Pedagogical University and Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory.
 
At the end of the meeting, Professor Villy Sargsyan answered the questions of participants.
