KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

On 29 February, within the framework of the National Assembly “Open Lesson” programme, the students and lecturers of the Faculties of Biology, Chemistry, and Geography of the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan visited the Parliament. After participating in the current four-day session work and following the events at the

 Parliament, the visitors had a meeting with the RA NA President, Samvel Nikoyan. The future pedagogues had a warm and unconstrained conversation with the President of the Parliament; the scope of questions that interested the active students prepared for the debates was quite broad and comprehensive.

 

 

At the beginning of the meeting the NA President underlined the importance to the all times respected and popular specialization of pedagogues. He mentioned that the Republic was continuously taking steps to the salvation of problems in the sphere of education, and that the process was incessant. As Mr.Nikoyan said, a good school is one of the component elements of a good society and a good country. In order to make the Sate management system fully comprehensible for the students, the President of the Parliament had a word about the separation of the three branches of the government and about the constitutionally implied restraints and counterbalances mechanisms. Since the students had been present at the NA session active discussions of the legislative package about the “Legal Regime of Emergency Situations”, Mr. Nikoyan went into details explaining the peculiarities of legislative changes.

 

 

Referring to the matter of separation of the secondary schools from the high schools, the NA President mentioned that there was a problem of effectiveness in the educational system. HE also underlined that it was not really correct for Armenia to have a separate educational system, and that our country should get integrated to the European educational system.

 

 

There was a wide variety of questions that interested the University students. Among those questions were issues referring to the supplying of the rural schools with laboratory equipments, to the improvement of educational system in rural areas, to the effectiveness of the Bologna system, to the problems within the credit system, to the coming legislative changes to be applied in the sphere of education; all those questions were minutely answered by the NA President.

   

 

One of the students wondered why the day before the French Constitutional Council announced the bill criminalizing the denial of Genocides, including the Armenian Genocide repugnant with the Constitution. Mr. Nikoyan underlined that the struggle in fact was between the all-human values and other profits. Mr. Nikoyan also observed that the rejection was rather deplorable; nevertheless, he welcomed the succession of the President of France to adopt the bill.  According to the NA President, putting into circulation any such project gives opportunity to the wider public to once again refer and raise the matter.
