A Minute of Silence Observed for Genocide Victims
23.04.2013
At 12.00, April 23, classes were stopped in a number of universities in Yerevan, including Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU). Students and lecturers of the University

observed a minute of silence in memory of the 1,5 million innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide. The aim of the first ever event organized on a university level was to condemn the greatest crime of the 20th century and call for the restoration of historical justice.

The event was made possible with the support of ASPU Trade Union Organization and Student Council.

The exhibition “The First Genocide of the 20th Century” opened at the University hall also reminds about the most tragic event in the Armenian history. The posters with inscriptions “Genocide,” “Armenian Orphans and Orphanages,” “Elimination of Armenian Elite,” “National and Cultural Genocide” once again remind the viewers about the historical facts and the consequences of the national and cultural genocide.

Let us mention that an event dedicated to the 129th Catholicos of All Armenians, Gevorg Chorekchyan, will be held at the hall of the Culture Faculty on the eve of April 24.  The soirée arranged within the framework of the 98th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide is organized in collaboration with the choir of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
