Today, the lecturer of the Faculty of Chemistry and its Teaching Methods, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Ashot Babakhanyan’s exhibition of envelops headed

“Old and New Yerevan” opened at the humanitarian reading hall of the Scientific Library of the Pedagogical University.
The exhibition presented envelops prepared by the “USSR Post” agency during the Soviet years which demonstrate pictures of Yerevan.
Mr. Ashot Babakhanyan has started collecting stamps and envelops since he was at school. The latter is sorry to see that today’s generation does not have this kind of interest as sometimes stamps can be the visit card of a country; they have both cultural and historical meaning.
The envelops with the ASSR government, the CPC Committee, Armenia, Dvin, Hrazdan, Sevan hotels, the buildings of the National Academy of Sciences, the Matenadaran, the Zvartnots airport, the Toumanyan Street, the Hrazdan bridge, the Theater of Opera and Ballet after Alexander Spendiarian, the State Academic Dramatic Theaters after Gabriel Sundukyan, the Yerevan Central House of Chess, the “Erebuni “ Museum, the house –museum buildings of Martiros Saryan, and the Shahoumyan square formed only a part of the author’s collection.
On the second row of the exhibited envelops also were the statues of Yerevan including the “Sasuntsi Davit/ David of Sassoun”, “Mayr Hayastan/ Mother Armenia”, the Komitas and the Sayat- Nova statues.
