KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

Today, the junior students of the Pedagogical University Faculty of History and Law paid a visit to the Ministry of ES within the framework of the course “Emergency Situations and

 Civil Protection Issues”.

 

During the visit the students made a tour in several departments of the Ministry and got familiar with their structure and main functions. 

 

The specialists of the Seismic Protection Agency made video presentations on the earthquake protection rules by giving a detailed description of what should be done before the earthquake, during and after it.  

 

Moreover, speaking about the security, the specialists urged the future pedagogues to be informed to the extent possible in order to be able to decrease the earthquake consequences to the minimum. 

 

Further on, the specialist from the Department of Seismic Risk Reduction discussed with the students the international experience in dam safety issues during the earthquake and the seismic influence of the reservoirs. 

 

The students’ next meeting took place with the special fire brigade staff; the Head of the Fire-guard Arthur Simonyan spoke about the brigade’s work in times of panic and fire suppression, as well as fire and rescue vehicle classification and their reaction process in times of emergency situations.

 

In addition, the application of the special breathing apparatus “Profi”, which came to replace the already old oxygen insulation gas masks often used in practice by the specialists, was of particular interest.   

 

Afterwards, the students visited the MES Crisis Management Center, where they got familiar with its activities and its technical capacities. 

 

The Head of the Seismic Protection Agency Hrachya Petrosyan and the Deputy Head of the MES Risk Management Center, Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Petrosyan presented how the Ministry subdivisions control natural and manmade emergency situations through monitors in real-time.

 

By the end of the meeting, the Deputy Head of the SPA Department of Seismic Risks Reduction Ms. Karine Barseghyan expressed her content about how knowledgeable and informed the Pedagogical students were in her interview to the armspu.am .
