Under the initiative of the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography a scientific session was organized on Levon Orbeli’s 130th anniversary.

Highlighting the importance of the session devoted to the great scientist, the Dean of the Facluty Svetlana Hovakimyan underlined that Levon Orbeli’s works made a fundamental contribution to the development of different sections of physiology and have global recognition.
The session activities were coordinated by the scholar of the Levon Orbeli scholarship, first year MA student Lilit Avetisyan.
Moreover, students Mariam Grigoryan, Heghinei Haroutyunyan and Shoushan Margaryan discussed the family of Orbelis in their reports, presented the scientific activities of Rouben and Hovsep Orbelis in fields of underwater archeology as well as history and oriental sciences in particular.
In addition, speaking about the life and scientific –pedagogical activities of Levon Orbeli, the students mentioned that the more time held them away from the great patriot, scientists, and science organizer, the more vivid and correctly valuable the depth of his thought and the greatness of his talent became, the more dear and cherished in their hearts it was.

The scientific session dedicated to Levon Orbely was concluded by watching the documentary film by directors Ashot Jazoyan and Victoria Grudinski about the Orbeli brothers headed “the Orbelis’ Code”.
What is more, among those present at the session also were the Deputy-Director of Science of the Physiology Institute after Levon Orbeli, the leading scientific employee of the Relations Laboratory, Doctor of Biological Sciences Khachik Nahapetyan, together with lecturers and students.
And besides, the pupils of the biology stream of the basic school N131 under the leadership of their teacher Astghik Shiqaryan also were present at the session as it is this very school that has the room named after Levon Orbeli.
After the session the guests made a tour around the University, visited the Museum where they were introduced its history and the activities.
