The defense of Masters’ theses and graduation papers, as well as final certification exams of bachelor's and master's degree graduates [studying in the full-time education system started at Armenian State Pedagogical University on May 6.
Some 1692 undergraduate and 661 graduate students are participating in final certification exams in 52 specialties underway in the ten faculties of the University.
Talking to armspu.am Vice Rector Mher Melik-Bakhshyan said although the exams had just started they could already speak about the serious progress in the organization and conduct of examinations.
“We are following the ongoing reforms in the educational system and are guided by the government-adopted principle “Applicants should not face difficulties during admission; difficulties will arise during graduation.” To ensure unbiased and impartial elections and to control the entire process we follow up the procedure for conducting final certification examinations approved by the RA Ministry of Education and Science, according to which the entire process of examination is recorded and students are given an opportunity to appeal the examination results within an hour after learning the final score.
The vice rector says the university authorities regularly visit the faculties to follow up the examination process. Also, the leading experts of the country's scientific and educational institutions have been invited to chair the examination commissions.
About 120 students, who did not participate in examinations in the previous years or did not receive satisfactory scores, are allowed to participate in the final certification exams.
Speaking about the new procedure according to which graduates shall take one final graduation exam, the vice rector said positive responses to the issue have significantly increased.
The final certification examinations will continue in the full-time education system till May 20. Examinations in the correspondence course will take place from May 29 to June 14.
