The lecturer-professorial team of the Pedagogical University, within the framework of the programme of the RA Government “Survey on Soldiers’ Educational Needs Assessment
and Implementation of Educational Programmes at RA AF Military Units”, made a visit to one of the military units in Nubarashen.
The RA Prime Minister, the President of the Governing Council of the Pedagogical University, Tigran Sargsyan, and the RA Minster of Defense, Seyran Ohanyan came to meet the soldiers.
“The country, besides creating convenient conditions for soldiers, is obliged to take care of their education and employment after demobilization”, stated the RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, during the meeting with soldiers.
The programme “Survey on Soldiers’ Educational Needs Assessment and Implementation of Educational Programmes at RA AF Military Units” is planned to commence on 10 March.
The programme aims to make a research on the soldiers’ educational disposition and preferences, abilities and their determination to continue education during the last month prior to demobilization.
Based on the research results, the programme will outline the list of educational needs for each soldier, professional skills of soldiers ready for demobilization, and the development of knowledge and their preparation on separate educational subjects; the results will be used to continue education at primary or secondary specialized educational establishments of RA.
The RA Minister of Defense, Seyran Ohanyan considers such an undertaking very important. As observed by the Minister, together with social inclination, the programme will raise the educational level at the Armed Forces.
52 PhD and MA degree students and lecturers of the Pedagogical University will voluntarily work for the programme.
The University has already worked out the courses outline, teaching teams and subjects: Armenian Language and Literature, History, Geography, Chemistry, Foreign Languages.
This is the short list of the subject which will give 119 soldiers opportunity to receive knowledge and to continue education in vocational and higher educational establishment.
“The selection of the Pedagogical University has not been random”, said the University Chancellor Rouben Mirzakhanyan. “In addition to particular knowledge, the bearers of which are our graduate, postgraduate students and the lecturers, the work implies certain pedagogical knowledge. On the successful course of the programme, our soldiers will have a chance to continue education and to solve the employment problem. Today, I felt myself a soldier to; a soldier who carries a great responsibility on his shoulders; so, we shall do it”, concluded the University Chancellor.
It should also be mentioned that this is a trial programme, the educational component of which is coordinated by the Armenian State Pedagogical University in joint cooperation with the intercollegiate consortium universities which are the Gyumry Pedagogical Institute after Michael Nalbandyan, the Vanadzor Pedagogical Institute after Hovhannes Toumanyan, the Gavar State University, the Armenian State Institute of the Physical Education, the Artsakh State University /as an observer/.
