Finnish Delegation at the Pedagogical

Today, the Pedagogical University welcomed the representatives of the Lecturers’ Union- 12 lecturers in various specialties from several Finnish universities.

Delegates Vessa-Matti Sorenius, Mirika Ali-Laurila, Aké Finne, Erya Kosoné,  Yuha Merikoski, Yanna Maki-Tuominé, Meria  Naalisvaara-Yokine, Seppo Sainio, Kristi Vainio, Tayia Votkin, Ulla Vana visited the University to get acquainted with the activities of the leading university providing pedagogical education, as well as to exchange experience.
 
 
First of all, the Vice Chancellor of Education Quality and Distant –Learning Mr. Tigran Ayvazyan introduced the delegates with the University authorities, after which he expressed gratitude for cooperation anticipating higher effectiveness in the name of the University Chancellor Rouben Mirzakhanyan, who was on a business trip at that time, and the teaching –professorial team.
 
What is more, during the initial session the Vice Chancellor presented the structure of the Pedagogical, departments, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, cooperation with other universities, the Oulu University in particular, in a diversity of programmes.   Besides, during a more expanded session with the lecturers and students, the Vice Chancellor of Personnel and International Cooperation Ara Yeremyan underlined that the presence of the Finnish delegates at the Pedagogical serves as a proof of the fact that the University is on the right track towards development.
 
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted that the collaboration with the Oulu University in particular, as a result of which all educational programmes were reviewed at the Pedagogical, new internship system was adopted, management accountability and the strategy transparency were changed, and more importance was focused on the quality assurance manual and the Career center activities.
 

“Even one visit is enough to notice the University’s hospitality, however it is more pleasant to see our national flag here”, the leader of the delegation Seppo Sainio observed.
In addition, the latter highlighted in his speech the upsurge of the lecturers and teachers mission by giving the example of the Finnish experience in that field. “From the perspective of the lecturers’ professional qualities and development of rights the idea of involving them into the Trade Unions is growing in us.”    
 
The expert also assured that from the point of view of self-development, creating and fostering new research opportunities, as well as setting new cooperation edges, the internationalization of education in Finland within the framework of Bologna activities is currently a priority.
 
Moreover, during the session the counterparts watched a film telling about the Pedagogical and the University of Finland and a video presentation telling about the scientific educational activities and the achievements of both universities in various spheres in the recent years in more details.
