“Last Bell” rings out for graduates of ASPU College
24.05.2013
The traditional “Last Bell” announcing the end of the academic year in Armenian schools was rung out today for the graduating schoolchildren of ASPU Basic (High-School)

College housed at School â„–57 after Vahan Totovents.

Tigran Ayvazyan, Vice Rector for Education Quality and Distance Learning, and Armen Tamazyan, Vice Rector for General Affairs, welcomed the participants of the traditional celebration [held already for the 19th time] and conveyed their best wishes to the graduates.

They wished the “heroes of the day” successful academic performance in the future and expressed their desire to see them studying at the Pedagogical University.

The festive events at the college that has had at least 1000 graduates and is rich in numerous educational traditions started with the exhibition of works of the Culture stream graduates who showcased their paintings, drawings and tapestries. This was followed by the main celebrations for school-leavers of five streams.

The Last Lesson was held in a unique atmosphere for the graduates of Humanities (Psychology, Journalism), Culture (Drawing, Design, Directing) and Physico-mathematical sciences streams.

The graduates of the stream of Painting characterized [in the language of colours] their teachers and the methods they apply during the teaching process. Future directors staged their next lesson flavouring it with jokes, creative approaches and various artistic solutions.

With the help of a web spun by the method of “psychological tangle,” the graduates of Psychology stream once again showed the psychological connection between their classmates, and the maze of human life.

Discipline plus logic, multiplied by diligence and divided by time unit… Representatives of the Physico-mathematical sciences stream tried to give the best formula defined by ‘a perfect pupil.’
The festive matinee concluded with future journalists interviewing each other and asking about the achievements they had had at the college. With curiosity peculiar to their profession they were able to extort answers to the questions that had remained unanswered before them.

Lusine Tonoyan, a teacher of Armenian Language and Literature, form mistress of the 12th class, Stream of Psychology, could not hide her excitement. For the first time in eight years of teaching activity she is sending to a greater life an educated and well-bred generation whom she had taught for three years. “Although an element from our childhood accompanies each of us throughout life the council of the day suggests that we are bidding our farewells to our childhood; it is time to start a new and independent life.”

Lusine Tonoyan regrets to say that the system of values of the young generation is changing from year to year. However, she is hopeful that the coming generations will maintain

the type of Armenians, reassess and value whatever we have.

Lilit Khachatryan, a graduate of the stream of Psychology, is glad to announce that the years spent at the college have left their trace on them; the schoolchildren of the stream differ from their peers, they can clearly formulate their wishes and goals, recognize people by gestures and mimic. “Ships are safe when they are in the harbour, here they are not threatened by storms and surges. Likewise, we feel safe and protected in our harbour- school,” Lilit said and added, “Ships are designed to navigate and move through terrible winds and powerful waves. Our ship has also set to navigate to a greater life but calmly and tranquilly as it is armed with maturity, independence, self-analysis and power of observation.”

Summarizing the day, as well as the three years the schoolchildren spent at the college, the acting director of the ASPU Basic (High-School) College, Naira Safaryan, said, “The number of graduates increases at the college every year. This year we have 132 graduates. Also we had the first generation of directors and psychologists studying in the stream of Culture and Humanities. I can say with confidence that we have overcome all problems and challenges set before us and today we have a unique high school – college that trains good specialists.”
