KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

The Scientific Council of Ukraine’s National Pedagogical University named after M. P. Dragomanov held its recurrent sitting [in May] in a festive atmosphere. Participating in the

 sitting were also Mr Rouben Mirzakhanyan, Rector of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) after Khachatur Abovyan, and Mher Melik-Bakhshyan, ASPU Vice-Rector, Head of the Division of Coordination of Academic and Scientific-Methodological Activities.

 

Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan delivered a public lecture during the sitting, after which he received the title of Honorary Professor of the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University, one of the leading universities in Ukraine. 

 

Close cooperation between the two pedagogical universities was established in 2012. At the beginning of the sitting, Viktor Andrushchenko, Rector of the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University, said, “Armenian State Pedagogical University is known for its international relations, academic achievements and application of advanced teaching technologies. This is truly a world-class university which is proud of its history and ambitious priorities of development.” In this context, Viktor Andrushchenko stressed ASPU’s involvement in a number of international projects which, he said, will enable the University’s students to continue their studies at the best partner universities abroad. 

 

“It is a great honour for me to receive the title of Honorary Professor of National Pedagogical Dragomanov University. I shall do everything possible to strengthen the relations between the two peoples in the education sector,” said Rouben Mirzakhanyan.

 

The Armenian delegates presented the museum of the Ukrainian University a wooden khachkar (cross-stone), a national symbol in Armenia.  They also bestowed on Viktor Andrushchenko “Khachatur Abovyan” Medal, the highest award of Armenian State Pedagogical University. Mr Andrushchenko is the first foreign rector to receive the medal.

 

At the end of the three-day official visit, the two sides emphasized that the collaboration between the two universities has reached a new level which is quite interesting and promising.
