Eduard Elbakian passed away

Noted choirmaster and professor, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Eduard Elbakian, died today. Throughout his adult life, Elbakian was committed to the development of Armenian art of signing. The choirs led by him achieved great success both in Armenia and outside its boundaries.
 
During the forty years of his activity at Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan, Eduard Elbakian taught and educated numerous generations. The Armenian Government highly appreciated and commended the renowned conductor for his great contribution to the Performing Arts and Pedagogy. 
 
In 1985, Eduard Elbakian was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia. In 2003 and 2012, he received letters of appreciation by the President of Armenia and Prime Minister respectively.  
 
The vivid memories about Eduard Elbakian will remain bright in the hearts of his friends and students. 
 
The farewell ceremony for the choirmaster is due to be held at 1.00 p.m., June 30, at St. Hovhannes Church on the hilltop of Kond district in Yerevan.
