Passed on in light…
Levon Ananyan has always been the intellectual worthy my admiration. Humanism was his permanent companion. He headed over the Armenian Writers’ Union in rather difficult times for our country when the Writers’ Union was no longer receiving state support. He gave a new breath to the Union providing an indescribable care to its new members. Besides, he was a great patriot and clearly realized the role the Writers’ Union had in the vital task of preserving the national spirit.
He had good taste, he was talented, handsome and delicate. I will never forget how he was publishing the so much appreciated “Garun” magazine issues; it was only +1C temperature in his office. In addition, he had a surprising ability to manage to be present everywhere and willing to be aware of everything. He introduced today’s writers with numerous translated works to the whole world. A manual which has always been and will be needed. Levon Ananyan is a value not only for the Armenian literature and the AWU, but for the Armenian nation, too. To some extent he can be compared with M. Gorki’s Danko who opened roads with the light he carried in heart. I bow before his memory and the work he did. He can never be forgotten. He will always live in the hearts of those who love and praise him.
The teaching –professorial team of the Faculty of Philology, together with the students express their deep sorrow for the decease of the President of the RA Writers’ Union, the friend of the Faculty Mr. Levon Ananyan.
