Lectures within the Framework of European Cultural Heritage Days

On 1 September, within the framework of events on the European Cultural Heritage Days, the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of History and Law of the Pedagogical University

 organized a students’ visit to the “Garni” reserve-museum.
 
Under the initiative of the Doctor of Archeology, Professor Simon Hmayakyan an open lesson headed “The Supreme Trio and Iconography of the Mythology of Urartu” was arranged at the museum during which the students got acquainted with the history of the cultural monument. 
 
Further on Simon Hmayakyan proceeded with his lecture that initiated at the Urartu protocol of the King Argishti 1st in front of the Hellenistic monument where a bilateral discussion broke out.
 
In addition, within the framework of this event, the students also went to the History Museum of Armenia, where they visited the Hellenic cultural exhibition hall, got familiar with the values that had been revealed during the Garni excavations together with the simultaneous realities excavated in Artashat and Dvin. What is more, the great museologist  Davit Poghosyan delivered a lecture at the museum.
 
Let us remind that it’s been a decade that various events are being arranged by the fifty European Union member states within the framework of the European Cultural Heritage Days. It aims to introduce the vast number of the society with the monuments nominated in the European heritage, their history and protection.
