KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

“Let the warmth and brightness of today’s weather accompany you in the curse of your responsible and essential activities” the Chancellor of the Pedagogical University Mr.

 Rouben Mirzakhanyan said to the freshmen during their swearing in ceremony today, and added that becoming a student was a real victory.

 

Later on, the Chancellor turned to around 1600 freshmen of the current year and highlighted the importance of initiating to the day’s sacrament by promising to do all in their might in order to be proud of being the graduates of the Pedagogical University after several years.

 

Furthermore, speaking about the current activities of the University, Mr. Rouben Mirzakhanyan outlined that for the time being, the Pedagogical University was undergoing a dynamic term of important changes and developments, the effective outcomes of which depend both on the lecturers and on students.

 

In his turn, the Director of the Christian Education Center of the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin, Rev. Father Navasardyan congratulated the students of the University after Kh. Abovyan and added, “Pedagogy is a great mission of giving a new meaning, re-establishing a person in moral and cognitive values that can, in one word, be called the creation of an individual. Try to gain so much knowledge in this establishment with the history of traditions and ages that will enable you to join this changing world and to disseminate your knowledge everywhere”.

 

The clergyman also passed the blessings of the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of all Armenians his Holiness Karekin II and wished that the oath given in the house-museum of the Great Enlightener became the safeguard of their profession.

 

What is more, among the guests present at this September event which has already become kind of tradition also was the delegation from the Oulu University of Finland. The Dean of the Faculty of Education of the University Ms. Rita-Liza Corckeamaki considered it a huge honour to participate at the swearing in ceremony and gladly mentioned that those particular students would become the bearers of the outcomes of the cooperation between the two Universities.

 

“In our country teachers are called the nation’s censers and now they are also called the illuminators of future; in fact they are really capable of introducing great changes into the nation’s life. Indeed, pedagogy is a profession of an exceptional value and with a special meaning,” the foreign guest observed.

 

In addition, the RA National Artist, Professor Jivan Gasparyan also came to congratulate the students and to urge them be the continuers of being useful to the nation and to the World as it was typical to Armenians.

 

“The day is bearing an immense sacrament as you are becoming the hope and trust, the future and vitality of the new, reformed school. For ages, the Armenian nation existed and was praised due to schools and education. Stay true and high, be honest and kind, be consistent to the bright ideas the bearers and disseminators of which you will be for the next generations!” This is how Doctor of the Department of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy Shoghik Voskanyan congratulated the students and counseled them to look at the world like the Sun.

 

In addition, the students received congratulations from the Head of the Department of Music, the RA Honoured Artist Ara Gevorgyan and from the Chairman of the Students Council Nersik Margaryan.

 

Last but not least, the swearing in ceremony was accompanied by a concert program with the performance of the graduates of the RA State Song Theatre and the Pedagogical University.
