The 2013 National Award Ceremony for Creative and Scholarly Works announced by the World Armenian Congress (WAC), Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR), Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia and a number of creative organizations was held on October 10.
The competition aims to promote creative and scientific activities of Armenian intelligentsia and stimulate the revival of intellectual life.
Participating in the ceremony were intellectuals from Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and Diaspora.
A group of lecturers of Armenian State Pedagogical University also presented their works at the ceremony: some of them were awarded with diplomas and prizes.
Professor Anush Yeghiazaryan, Head of the Chair of Design, Decorative and Applied Art, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, ASPU, Vardges Gulikyan, Professor at the Chair of Fine Arts, and Artashes Keshishyan, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, were named laureates in the category of Best Works of Art during the award-giving ceremony announced by the WAC, UAR, RA Ministry of Diaspora and Artists' Union of Armenia.
Their tapestries, paintings and bas-reliefs received the approval of the Awards Committee which was chaired by Ara Abrahamyan, President of the World Armenian Congress and Union of Armenians of Russia.
The tender sub-committee was presided over by Hravard Hakobyan, Honored Worker of Science of Armenia Doctor of Arts, Professor at the Chair of Art History, Theory and Culturology, ASPU.
Competitions were held in other fields of art and science as well. Hakob Avetikyan, editor-in-chief of Azg daily, Acting Professor at the Chair of TV and Radio Journalism, ASPU, Ara Gevorgyan, Honorary Artist of Armenia, Head of the Chair of Music, ASPU, were awarded respectively for the best coverage of the WAC, UAR activities and active cooperation with the Diaspora Ministry.
The National Award Ceremony for Creative and Scholarly Works has been held since 2007 at the initiative of World Armenian Congress and Union of Armenians of Russia, and with the participation of the National Academy of Sciences and creative unions of Armenia.
