The Fourth All-Armenian Tournament of Young Chemists was held at the Ayb High School in Yerevan later last week. The tournament featured participants from Yerevan and marzes (provinces).

This year the tournament was held in three phases - pre-quarterfinals, which was held at Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), semifinals and finals.
The competitors were scored by a professional jury comprising of chemists. Also included in the jury panel were lecturers of the ASPU Chair of Chemistry and its Teaching Methods, Professor Ashot Babakhanyan and Candidate of Chemical Sciences Varduhi Hovsepyan. Mr. Babakhanyan was Vice-President of the jury.
Participating in the tournament were also MA students of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography.
The team “Almast” from Vagharshapat-based School â„–5 after M. Gorky took first place in the tournament.
Svetlana Hovakimyan, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography, handed out presents to the three teams that had reached the finals. The teams were given vocational manuals, albums and booklets dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the ASPU, which will familiarize the regional students with the history of the University.
The All-Armenian Tournament of Young Chemists is an interactive team competition held in Armenia since 2010 on the initiative of Ayb Educational Foundation and with the methodological support and participation of the Chair of Chemistry and its Teaching Methods, ASPU.

The tournament aims to engage 9th-12th graders in practical and scientific activities, stimulate their interest in Chemistry, promote and develop their creative and scientific abilities for conducting discussions and enhance extracurricular activities in Chemistry.
