An exhibition of contemporary decorative and applied arts opened at the Artists' Union of Armenia on Thursday. Participating in the exhibition were also students and lecturers of

the Chair of Design, Decorative and Applied Arts, ASPU.
Tapestries, batik, pottery and ceramic items, silver, gold and other pieces made at least three years ago were put on display at the rare exhibition.
Chairman of the Artists' Union of Armenia, Karen Aghamyan, considered the decision to return to the sources of folk crafts real heroism, at the same time expressing regret that Ceramics is somewhat neglected today.
Robert Yesayan, Chairman of Decorative Applied Arts Branch of the Artists' Union, Art Critic Hasmik Ghazaryan and Anush Yeghiazaryan, Head of the Chair of Design, Decorative and Applied Arts, also delivered welcoming speeches and congratulated the participants of the exhibition.

“Decorative and Applied Arts revive the crafts laid on the basis of national culture,” Anush Yeghiazaryan said during the conversation with armspu.am. She added that decorative applied arts are already restoring their former interest.
Speaking about the participation of ASPU students in the exhibition, Anush Yeghiazaryan proudly noted that the students had submitted to the jury such exhibits that can be competed with the works of distinguished artists.
Among the silver and gold items showecased at the exhibition were also the works of students and graduates of the Faculty of Art Education and Lecturer Tigran Davtyan.
He noted that girls are quite successful in this field; they have participated in a number of international exhibitions and taken honorary positions.
The exhibition of contemporary decorative and applied arts will run until November 16.
