Marching exercises, limbering-up, race-walking- no deviations from the traditional physical education at the first sight though.
Elements of various sports such as meditation, swimming and chess classes, volleyball, basketball, football, table tennis development groups for girls and boys; it’s already two years that the physical education and its context is on a new platform.
Everything started from changing the name of the Department; the Department of Physical Education was renamed into the Department of Chess and Sports, and the course structure undertook major changes.
Today, the University management and the Faculty Deans witnessed an open class which distinguished with its new format of organizing sporting education.
Besides, this is also stated by the second year student of the Pedagogical University Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology Ms. Diana Darbinyan.
In fact, Diana who has moved to her motherland from the Russian Federation, observes that there is no such approach to the given subject in Russian colleges.

Furthermore, the Head of the Department Mr. Smbat Lputyan spoke about the development of sports noting the serious issue of healthy lifestyle of the young generation in our country.
The international Grand Master considers it the most important subject and mentions, “I am glad to see the proper conditions created with joint the activities of the University management aimed at making the classes much more exciting and creating a sports environment. We should also state that the students’ athletic training, physical education and interest towards sport have also increased.”
Moreover, Mr. Smbat Lputyan was happy to mention that the students would have new uniforms with the Universities symbols from January on, which will surely encourage their unity and the overall development of sports culture.
More to the point, the lecturer conducting the open lesson, one of the founders of the Eastern martial arts Mr. Ashot Khachatryan has been lecturing at the Pedagogical University for already more than a year. As a matter of fact, he is pretty sure that the new format of physical education will set harmony between the student’s body and soul, as well as encourage physical and mental welfare.
