Polish Higher Education System Presented at ASPU

Representatives of Krakow’s Jagiellonian University‎, Carolina and Bartosh Golombek, visited Armenian State Pedagogical University at the invitation of the Faculty of Special

 Education.
 
During the meeting with the students and professorial staff of the Faculty, the Polish guests presented the history of Jagiellonian University, starting from its foundation to the structure and educational programmes. 
 
Postgraduate student Carolina Golombek spoke about the 15 faculties of the Polish university, its famous graduates and rich traditions of which the most remarkable is the festive celebration held at the beginning of the new academic year.
 
She then dwelt on the University’s involvement in the 2007-2013 international educational programmes. He presented several programmes of the Erasmus Mundus, particularly highlighting the “Erasmus Mundus Yanus” pointing out the possible ways for students and lecturers to participate in that programme and urging them to apply for the programme within two months starting from 15 December. 

Doctoral Candidate, the “Erasmus Mundus Yanus” project coordinator from the Jagelonian University Ms. Carolina Golombek presented the 15 faculties of the university, its eminent graduates as well as the rich traditions of the university the most outstanding of which is the festive celebration marking the stat of a new academic year.

 

At the second part of the meeting, Professor Bartosh Golombek spoke about Jagiellonian University within the framework of Polish and European higher education system. 
 
About 470 institutions of higher education operate in the country, including 132 state and 338 private establishments, which educate over 2 million students.
 
In the national qualification system, the professor emphasized the autonomy of universities in organizational, programme and other issues. At the same time, he underlined that the Commission accredited by the Polish Ministry of Education and Science constantly monitors the activities of universities.
 
The professor also enumerated the criteria that students and professors should comply with, adding that every and each new faculty should involve at least three Doctor Professors and six Candidates of Science.
