In its recent meeting of the Association Council, the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) made a decision according to which Armenian State Pedagogical University became a member of the Association.
The membership will allow ASPU students, lecturers and researchers to apply for AUF research grants, particularly in the area of mobility.
The AUF aims to help build and consolidate a French presence in the field of science by promoting scientific cooperation, training future development actors, supporting research and excellence and sharing expertise.
The AUF only supports time-limited projects that are subject to evaluation and that clearly meet the needs defined by its member institutions.
Over 2,856 individuals received financial support for training and research in the 2010-2011 academic year, including 2,096 mobility grants and 760 distance education allowances.
About 99 inter-university cooperation projects and 434 associate researchers were supported by the AUF.
Also, 5,881 students and 379 teachers received French refresher courses.
The membership with the AUF opens new opportunities for ASPU students, professors and researchers to apply for the Association’s numerous programmes and projects for the benefit of the University. Particularly, it will help increase the quality of education, promote science, support mobility and distance education.
The AUF is one of the most important higher education and research associations in the world. It has also been La Francophonie’s operating agency for higher education and research since 1989.
The AUF operates on the international scene from its head office and central services located in Montreal and Paris. It has 70 institutions in 40 countries, including ten regional offices with 427 staff members, including 339 regional staff.
The AUF consolidates a network of 776 institutions in 98 countries, 63 of which are members or observers of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie.
