Chess Competition at the ASPU

13-14 November, the Pedagogical University held the University Chess Competition with the participation of around 36 students from 9 faculties. 
 

The circular tournament was held in a team principle where the team of the Faculty of History and Law won by scoring the maximum of 16 points, the second prize went to the team of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics scoring 14 points, and the third prize went to the team of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography with 11 points.
 
In addition, during the competition there were winners by boards; and here the first honorable prize went to the student o the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics Leonard Martirosyan, the second prize winner was the student of the Faculty of History and Law, the third prize went to the student of the Faculty of Culture Hayk Misakyan, and the fourth prize was awarded to the student of the Faculty of History and Law Samson Ziroyan.
 
The solemn ceremony of granting diplomas and awards will be held at the end of the year.
 
The referee of the competition, the lecturer of the Department of Chess and Sports Mr. Samvel Misakyan highly evaluated the chess playing skills of the participants;
“This year considerable activity has been observed among the students, they tend to develop thinking, chess abilities, which also has its influence on the competition results. This royal game really exercises logic and thinking; it is the life model; the person who is able to represent himself well in chess, will make correct steps in life too.”
