Lalik Khachatryan, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Chair of the Armenian Language and its Teaching Methods, Armenian State Pedagogical University, recently participated at the Second International Congress on Armenian Studies under the title “Armenian Studies and the Challenges of Modern Times” which was held in Yerevan at the initiative of the National Academy of Republic of Armenia.
In the report entitled “Problems of Cognitive Linguistics,” the Professor referred to one of the newest trends in Linguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, interpreting in a new way the concept of general groups of grammatical meanings or priorities of shaping grammatical orders.
Let us mention that Lalik Khachatryan has also participated in the International Conference on Linguistics devoted to the 150th anniversary of the Department of General and Comparative-Historical Linguistics at Lomonosov Moscow State University and the International Conference on “Historical and Cultural Heritage and Modernity” in Gyumri.
During the conferences, the linguist focused on the changes in parts of speech (between the 5th and 12th centuries) and gave a general linguistic view of political discourse.
